Ignis FAQs

What is CHP, or Combined Heat and Power?read more

Combined Heat and Power (CHP) generates all the heat and electricity you need by transforming woody biomass into a gas. Eligible for two Government incentives, on the highest tariffs available, CHP offers better returns than heat-only biomass technologies. Find out more about CHP here.

How can I make money from CHP?read more

CHP gives better returns than heat-only biomass technologies. Your business will not only receive payments through the Biogas Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) for the heat that you use but also from the Renewable Obligation Certificates (ROCs) for the power you generate. You will also get paid for exporting surplus electricity back to the grid. Find out more about the finance benefits here.

What are the benefits of CHP, compared with other ‘green’ technologies, such as solar PV, biomass or wind turbines?read more

Unlike traditional biomass, CHP can provide your farm or business with all the heat and power it needs. It also gives better returns than heat-only biomass technologies. We know that it is becoming increasingly difficult to get planning permissions for solar PV and wind turbines, so CHP is fast becoming the best energy investment. Learn more about CHP here.

What fuel does the ArborElectroGen use?read more

The ArborElectroGen runs on dry (15% MC – dry basis) wood chips. These are fed into a system of chain conveyors and augers and gasified with limited air to retain a unique level of high energy in the gas.
